International Women's Day: Q&A with Astrid Cheylus To celebrate International Women’s Day we are letting you in on a little secret: FW has a full women’s line up dropping for season 20/21. FW’s gear for women is built to last, for women living extraordinary lifestyles in the great outdoors. Astrid Cheylus, Freeride Skier of La Clusaz, France has been testing FW on her adventures, from the mountains, to the coast. Share your own FW stories with us via the hashtag: #FWmovement BIO Name: Astrid Cheylus Age: 16 Nationality: French Home Mountain: La Clusaz, France Terrain: Freeride Astrid, can you tell us about yourself in a few words? My name is Astrid Cheylus, I’m 16 years old and I live in France ( Annecy, La Clusaz). What do you do in life? In my life, I study to do a baccalaureate in a scientific section with flexible schedules to be able to practice all my sports activities. When did you start skiing and how did you get into freeriding? I start skiing when I was 3 years old! It’s my father who made me discover it, he always took us off the slopes with my big brother and we followed him everywhere What is your favourite thing about freeriding? What I prefer in freeriding is nature and the freedom to ride extraordinary faces. Away from skiing, you have other outdoor passions? Can you tell us what they are? Away from skiing I do surfing, kite surfing, skateboarding and horse riding. How do you organize the different seasons of the year between these sports? I cut my year in two parts: the winter where I ski and the summer for all water sports. For horse riding and skateboarding I practice it all year, a little like a physical training. What do you like about surfing and longboarding? About surfing I like to be in water with the sun, the beauty of the ocean and mostly the feeling of sliding. I use skateboarding to have fun and get some fresh air when there aren’t good conditions or waves. How do you feel to be representing FW? I’m very happy to be representing FW, I find that it’ a good experience and it’s really interesting. I find the FW women’s clothes are super beautiful, technical and the cut of the jacket and the bib are so good. Moreover, the city clothes are really style and original. Next year FW are launching their first women’s lineup of clothes, you’ve been wearing them already, how do they feel? I find that women’s clothes are super beautiful, technical and the cut of the jacket and the bib are so good. Moreover city clothes are really style and original. What FW products do you have? I have 2 MANIFEST 2L Jacket (pink and black), 2 MANIFEST 2L Bib (pink and gray) and also some city clothes. My favourite things about FW gear is the originality of style and colours. The details that I particularly like are the magnets to close the pockets and the side of the pants. Where are you heading next to ski? I'm leaving this weekend for a Freeride Junior Tour stop in Fieberbrunn. And this summer? What plans do you have? This summer I want to travel abroad to learn English and go to Hossegor in our family house with my brother and my boyfriend to surf, kite and have fun !!
